Board

President

Jakob is now studying for his master's degree. He already did one semester in the AMIV Board as treasurer, but has now taken over the presidency. He has already been heavily involved in various AMIV committees in the past and has gained many valuable insights into the processes and structures of the association. Among other things, he was on the Executive Committee of EESTEC and its IT department. He is currently still active in the IT department of Kontakt, the AMIV's job fair. These diverse experiences and his extensive knowledge of the AMIV's internal processes benefit him a lot for his work as president. Jakob was born in Germany but grew up in Switzerland, more precisely in Lucerne. His passion for handball has also led him to be an active referee. In his spare time, he regularly travels around the region to referee matches. With this broad combination of technical expertise, practical experience in the AMIV and a strong sense of responsibility, Jakob has the ideal qualifications to be successful as the President of AMIV.
Tasks
The president is responsible for coordinating the work of the entire board and represents the association to the outside world. He convenes the meetings and general assemblies and delegates the work to the individual departments. He is the link to the umbrella organization, the VSETH. Contact at praesident@amiv.ethz.ch
Quaestor

Pierre is our treasurer – and also the youngest member of the AMIV board. Originally from France, he has been living in Switzerland for seven years now and has settled in very well. He is currently in his fifth semester of mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, where he uses his French charm and precise bookkeeping skills to ensure that everything runs smoothly at AMIV financially. Before devoting himself to the treasury, Pierre was already active in university politics and therefore knows the ETH structures like the back of his hand. Fun fact: although he comes from Paris, he has never been to the Eiffel Tower – but he knows the city's museums like no other. Since moving here, he has grown to love Swiss outdoor life and prefers to spend his free time in the mountains – climbing in summer or skiing in winter. A Frenchman with Swiss precision and a dash of AMIV spirit.
Tasks
The Quaestor is responsible for the financial affairs of AMIV, namely budgeting and accounting. He also manages the bank accounts of the association and checks the bills of all commissions. Everything financial: quaestur@amiv.ethz.ch
IT

Michael is probably one of the youngest IT Board Members AMIV has ever had. Already in the first weeks of his first semester he showed up at the AMIV Bÿro to help in the IT team. After a year in the IT team, he was rightly elected to the Board, because in his first year he had already written the entire front end for the new PVK tool. But he still has to study, and he is now in his second year of electrical engineering. However, he almost studied computer science because he has always been interested in computers. However, as he was also fascinated by the hardware and electronics behind it, he is now studying electrical engineering. He grew up near Rorschach near Bodensee. Unfortunately, his accent suffered a little as a result. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, skiing and playing sysadmin at home.
Tasks
The head of IT is responsible for all technical stuff at AMIV. This includes maintaining the website, apps, beer dispenser, PVK tool, servers, workstations as well as leading the IT team and organising the coding weekend. Everything regarding the website: it@amiv.ethz.ch

Born in Windisch, a village near Brugg, David initially completed an apprenticeship as an electronics technician. After a stopover at SwissSkills, he found his way to ETH with the Passerelle, where he is now in the 5th semester of his electrical engineering degree. He ended up on the board by chance, but is already a permanent member of the team. A typical case of ‘slipped in’ and ‘stayed in’ - and definitely to everyone's advantage. With his expertise, he supports the team, particularly in IT matters, and ensures that everything runs smoothly. When he's not supporting the Board with his IT expertise, he enjoys playing strategy games in his spare time. But he also enjoys sports, so you'll find him skiing in winter and hiking or cycling in summer. After all, there has to be a balance.

Event Planning

Lena Flückiger is now the old and experienced Kulturi in the AMIV board. By now, you can regularly hear her Bernese dialect in the office as she works with her event teams to organize the best events possible. At one point, she was even considered for the BrauKo board, but we’re very glad she decided to take on the cultural affairs role instead. Between her MAVT studies and board duties, there’s unfortunately not much free time left—but when she does find a moment, you’ll likely spot her playing volleyball or swimming. Fun fact: She originally wanted to become a tank driver in the military—now, instead, she’s steering AMIV’s cultural highlights!
Tasks
Besides the demanding and time-consuming studies that ETH is known for, our social life is often neglected. That is why the department of culture pursues the task of offering students a varied range of leisure activities. The "Kulturis" organize various events where our members have the opportunity to get to know each other. For two years now, "the Kulturis" team has been supporting the cultural directors in organizing events. In this team, anyone who feels like it is welcomed. In addition, depending on the event, there are numerous helpers to handle all the work involved. If you are interested, please contact us at kultur@amiv.ethz.ch.

Lena Wirth, who grew up in a small village in the Zurich Oberland, loves organizing events and helping out wherever she can. That's why she's now our new Kulturi! She has been part of the culture team since she started at ETH – and has been jointly responsible for her favorite event, Cocktail Night, for just as long. Through this and countless other events she has co-organized, Lena has acquired an impressively broad knowledge of AMIV. Somehow, she always knows how, what, and where things are happening. So it was only a matter of time before she became part of the culture committee. She likes to spend her free time crocheting or knitting – or she unwinds with a short walk around the village lake to stretch her legs. Lena stands out for her amazing energy and motivation, and she brings her positivity to every organizing committee. Another typical Kulturi quality: you can practically always find her somewhere—whether it's at the AMIV office, at almost all events, or anywhere there's coffee or beer. All in all, Lena is a born Kulturi. And with her on the board, we know that our events will not only be well organized, but also brightened by her good mood.

Klaus is also known as “Klena” or “Lena IV,” but he doesn't really need a nickname—everyone at AMIV knows immediately who is being referred to. Klaus lives by the motto “Fuck around and find out,” and he consistently follows through on this, whether traveling, cycling, or simply enjoying a beer. Anyone who spends time with him quickly realizes that he's always “up for a chat.” Whether during an event, on a break, or late at night, Klaus always has a story to tell, and if you're lucky (or unlucky), he'll tell you three at once. With a beer in his hand and a casual remark on his lips, he turns every short chat into half an evening's entertainment. Since the beginning of his studies, Klaus has been a fixture at AMIV, especially in the culture team. He organizes, he travels, he parties: sometimes all at the same time. Last year, for example, he organized the wine tasting, where Klaus showed everyone that he can enjoy not only beer but also wine with passion (and big gulps). And when he's not providing culture, he's providing exercise. Because Klaus is practically always on the go. Whether it's distant continents or parties around Zurich, he always seems to be passing through. If you're looking for him, don't look for him on the tram or bus, but on the bike lane, where he races down Rämistrasse at top speed with the Subway Surfers soundtrack in his ears.

External Relations

Serafin, 20, from Zurich, studies mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich. He gained sponsorship experience in his first year: approaching companies, establishing partnerships, securing commitments, and implementing them professionally. Since starting at ETH, he has also been involved in event organization at AMIV, including the “Cocktail Night,” the “Stutz Party,” “AMIV goes Europapark,” and the “Easter Bunny” event. He is communicative, reliable, and brings teams together. He works in a structured manner, thinks strategically, and never loses his cool, his focus, or his sense of humor, even in hectic situations. As a self-confessed mate and math lover with a chronic need for caffeine, he also enjoys a good beer after lectures, studies maps and statistics to relax, and spends as much time as possible skiing in winter. Serafin is a committed city dweller – short distances, lots of people, lots of life. His motto seems to be “Studying shouldn't mean less partying” – as can be seen on LinkedIn and Instagram. When he's not at ETH or AMIV, he's drawn to the wider world – on city trips across Europe, to Oktoberfest, or on voyages of discovery to Morocco and South Africa. As the new External Relations board member, he focuses on strong partnerships, diverse excursions, and exciting industry talks – with the aim of bringing students and companies together.
Tasks
The members of the External Relations Department establish new contacts with the business community and maintain existing ones. Their main task is to raise sponsorship funds and exchange information between industry and students - to create added value for the students. Together with the President, the board members of this department are the face of the AMIV to the outside world. They also organize the big AMIV company contact fair "AMIV Kontakt" every autumn semester. In order to be able to offer interesting excursions during the semester as well, they have to rely on external help. Would you like to support the ER team in the area of excursions, contact or sponsoring? Then get in touch at er@amiv.ethz.ch.

Andrin is in his first year of a master's degree in mechanical engineering and brings a lot of energy—and horsepower—to his role as a new member of the ER board. When he's not networking with companies, he can be found outside jogging, cycling, or at the gym. But his greatest passion is cars: he is the kind of guy who can immediately recognize every model that drives by and comment on it in detail. He got involved with AMIV through the typical classics: end-of-semester parties, freshman events, mulled wine evenings, and fondue parties—he was always there. At some point, however, celebrating with others turned into helping to organize events. Now, as a member of the board, he not only wants to keep the sponsorship going, but also set new records—especially the beer record. With his combination of sportsmanship, gasoline in his blood, and party spirit, Andrin is exactly the right addition to the ER team.

University Policy D-ITET

Originally from near Frankfurt, Philipp has already invested a great deal of time and commitment in university politics over the past few years, making the step up to the AMIV board a natural progression. At just 21 years old, he is passionate about standing up for students. True to the motto, “Making the world a little better every day.” Despite this dedication, the electrical engineer rarely pushes himself into the spotlight. The only drama he enjoys is during his performances with szene3. He prefers a cozy evening with friends over an overstimulating night of partying. After finishing his final bachelor’s year, Philipp can well imagine taking things a step further and becoming active in politics at VSETH. A man with clear convictions, he tends to hit the mark against his opponents, at least when it comes to his favorite AMIV event: Laser tag. With Philipp, the AMIV board has a loyal member by its side, someone who can truly represent the interests of our electrical engineers.
Tasks
At ETH, students have a lot of say - perhaps more than you think. The HoPo board members are involved (together with a HoPo team per department) in the departmental and teaching conferences of the two departments covered by AMIV. In addition, they are the first contact persons for all possible study-related questions, organize exam preparation courses and conduct lecture evaluations by semester speakers as well as tutorial evenings for students from the lower semesters. Do you have any questions or suggestions? Please contact the HoPo team at hopo-itet@amiv.ethz.ch.
University Policy D-MAVT

Paloma comes from far away in Aargau, where discipline and determination are at home, and she is a woman who knows how to hit the mark. Whether in her free time with the Stgw 90/57, with arguments in university politics, or with precise calculations in her mechanical engineering studies. With her focus always on the essentials, Paloma discovered her passion for politics and journalism at an early age. As a result, she became involved in various associations at a young age and skillfully juggled debates and articles, always with the aim of making a difference. Paloma found her way to AMIV via HoPo, and anyone who knows her knows that she is in exactly the right place there. With a sharp mind, a great deal of commitment, and a clear sense of justice, she advocates for the concerns of her fellow students in university politics. Whether in the workshop, the meeting room, or the shooting range, Paloma demonstrates precision, focus, and determination in every environment. With her commitment, she brings a breath of fresh air to HoPo and shows that technical sophistication and political sensitivity can be perfectly combined.

Infrastructure

Coming here from Basel, David made it to the first year of the mechanical engineering master’s program. Around a year ago, Joel took him under his wing like his own son, teaching him the honorable craft of refilling the Bierautomat. After taking over Joel’s job during his absence in winter, the succession of the board position was set in stone. Even though he is a fan of the ESF, he enjoys having a beer in smaller groups and in more intimate places — so you will likely find him on the Byro Couches every now and then. Besides being annoyed by people who expect Info to be almighty, David enjoys steering the operations of AMIV and is motivated to help others. Not only does he want to give something back in his role, but he also wants to help make the world a better place after his studies. Overall, David shines through his bad jokes as well as his unbreakable work ethic and professionalism.
Tasks
The Infrastructure board member is responsible for all premises of the AMIV and the facilities belonging to the association contained therein and their condition. The design and allocation in the cultural area, rules for the lounge and the supply of drinks take up most of his time. He is always pleased to see how AMIV members separate the garbage and make an effort to keep the rooms tidy and clean. He always has an open ear for all requests, incentives and ideas and is looking forward to an email from you to infra@amiv.ethz.ch.
Information

For Sonja, AMIV has become like a second home, when she’s not currently at the hospital. The woman from Liechtenstein has always been out and about with a camera, capturing countless AMIV events. She was able to express her creative side early on in the design team, and now she devotes her passion to the Infoboard. When she’s not in the AMIV byro, you’ll probably find her visiting other student associations, she’s always a welcome guest there as well. She’s not to be messed with… or is she? Because one thing’s for sure: Sonja throws the best parties, and if you’re thirsty, it won’t be long before she appears around the corner with a “Waschmasch” shot. Sonja’s special talent is knowing almost every place on Earth. She has spent countless hours perfecting her Geoguessing game. Let’s just hope she keeps knowing hospital locations only from the outside!
Tasks
The head of communications coordinates various information channels such as the Announce, Facebook and the good old website, and ensures that all students stay well informed about the events in and around their favorite association. Last but not least, dutifully answering everything that remains at the end of the day in the info@amiv.ethz.ch mailbox is part of it.
