Board

Board

President

Andrea "Pepe" Däppen

Pepe is a newly minted ersti in the electrical engineering master. Prior to his election to the board in spring 2025 he was involved in a variety AMIV activities such as copresidency of AMIV Kontakt.25, our jobfair in fall, being Copilot of randomdudes, organizing the inaugural edition of the beermile and you propably saw him pop up in many other random moments in connection with AMIV. Originally from Chur, Grisons, the connection to a variety of outdoor activities is still strong and even here in the flatlands of Zurich he tries to find time to enjoy the outdoors, be it cycling, running, climbing, flyjng or just daydreamjng. His many years as part of other associations and boards, starting in high school, will hopefully pay dividends for leading AMIV through an eventful semester.

Tasks

The president is responsible for coordinating the work of the entire board and represents the association to the outside world. He convenes the meetings and general assemblies and delegates the work to the individual departments. He is the link to the umbrella organization, the VSETH. Contact at praesident@amiv.ethz.ch

Quaestor

Andrin Hess

Born and raised in Winterthur, Andrin has also found his place at AMIV. Andrin—or “Ändu,” as he’s also known—is now in his third semester of his electrical engineering studies. He took on the role of treasurer by chance and is now an important member of the executive board.

When Andrin isn’t at ETH, he’s probably abroad. Traveling is one of his favorite pastimes, and there aren’t many places he hasn’t visited yet.

Nevertheless, he supports AMIV as treasurer to the best of his ability and carries out his duties responsibly, even if it’s sometimes via Zoom calls.

Tasks

The Quaestor is responsible for the financial affairs of AMIV, namely budgeting and accounting. He also manages the bank accounts of the association and checks the bills of all commissions. Everything financial: quaestur@amiv.ethz.ch

IT

Mikail Gedik

Mikail is a true IT guy. After a Matura at the Kantonsschule Züri Nord, he came to ETH to study electrical engineering. Since his second semester he is a true Bastli member, prepared to help anyone, even organizing workshops about electronics and 3D printing with various AMIV comissions. Due to this, he's a happy owner of a beautiful LIMES hoodie. When he is not debugging the different AMIV services, he is then surely in Bastli trying to setup servers or searching for cheap DDR4 RAM on some obscure markets (he said he has never seen DDR5!!). He also helped created the Bastli website on his old but loyal ThinkPad. FYI: he has Fedora Linux (“Tips hat”) on it.

Tasks

The head of IT is responsible for all technical stuff at AMIV. This includes maintaining the website, apps, beer dispenser, PVK tool, servers, workstations as well as leading the IT team and organising the coding weekend. Everything regarding the website: it@amiv.ethz.ch

Adrian Walss

After graduating from high school in Oerlikon, Adrian headed straight to ETH to study electrical engineering.

There, Adrian found his way to AMIV right from the start through the Freshman Weekend. He is now in his third semester and has already been actively involved with AMIV during this time. Among other things, he launched the AMIV Minecraft server and, in just his second week at ETH, helped out with AMIV Kontakt.

Of course, he couldn’t miss the coding sessions either. There, he got to know the IT team and dove deep into AMIV’s software and hardware.

His most questionable achievement, aside from his seemingly endless repertoire of brainrot, is probably the two fake AMIV websites he created. This makes him perfectly qualified for AMIV IT.

Event Planning

Philip Thüring

Philip hails from the lovely Basel region and has found his way onto the AMIV board. With roots in Hong Kong, he not only brings an international perspective to the table, but also always has the perfect catchphrase or meme reference up his sleeve for any situation. To this day, it remains unclear whether Philip is actually Klemens Iten’s little brother, through whom he also found his way to AMIV. For Philip, AMIV is a ‘Hell Yeah’ simulator, and he has often been spotted at events such as laser tag, Jass tournaments and other events organised by the organising committee. It was only a short step from being a volunteer to joining the executive committee, and today he organises numerous events with great passion alongside his OKs. If, for once, you don’t find him in the office, he’s probably playing floorball with great enthusiasm, ensuring that not only his liver gets a workout, but the rest of his body stays in shape too. Philip is also known as an academic supporter. He enjoys helping out with ‘How-to-Semester’ guides and sharing his tips and tricks, is active as a freshers’ guide and mentor, and visits schools to spark an early interest in STEM subjects among children and young people.

Tasks

Besides the demanding and time-consuming studies that ETH is known for, our social life is often neglected. That is why the department of culture pursues the task of offering students a varied range of leisure activities. The "Kulturis" organize various events where our members have the opportunity to get to know each other. For two years now, "the Kulturis" team has been supporting the cultural directors in organizing events. In this team, anyone who feels like it is welcomed. In addition, depending on the event, there are numerous helpers to handle all the work involved. If you are interested, please contact us at kultur@amiv.ethz.ch.

Noah Ackermann

You can spot Noah by his signature move: he flings open the office door, beer in hand, and shouts “Ziiistig!” into the room. It doesn’t matter what day of the week it actually is. Noah is from Brislach in the Laufental region and makes a point of emphasizing that he’s not from Basel, even though his dialect regularly suggests otherwise. He’s now in his second semester of the master’s program in mechanical engineering. He began his event career, of all places, at VIS, until he realized he could also get involved with his own student association. The deciding factor was a simple realization: the AMIV can drink significantly better than the computer scientists. Since then, he’s organized the whiskey tasting and the StuZ party “Money Talks,” and has spontaneously pitched in as a volunteer at countless events. His passion project is the SAZ (Suufe am Zistig), which was established in the fall semester of 2025 with the Zistig OGs on a Tuesday at the Byro and officially took place for the first time in late May 2026: over 200 people, over 300 liters of beer. The 1.5 liters per person still has room for improvement. In general, his heart beats for events with a liquid lineup. As his time at ETH draws to a close, he wants to use his role as Kulturi to pass on his experience so that the next generation knows how to put an event on. He also offers “liver training” sessions upon request. In his free time, he’s drawn to raves—often in the Netherlands, where his music is played. Outsiders call it unlistenable, and a few people have already had the misfortune of hearing it at the Byro. To balance things out, he goes jogging, but he’s careful not to get too fit and makes up for it with plenty of unhealthy habits.

Miguel Legazpi

Miguel is in his third semester of mechanical engineering and has been a member of AMIV since the beginning of his studies. At the cultural kickoff during his second week, he was immediately chosen as the club’s new truck driver for the ski weekend, and that sealed his fate. Since he commuted from his hometown of St. Gallen to Zurich during his first year of college, he was limited to just a fraction of his energy, so aside from the ski weekend, he only had enough energy for countless other events like Sushi Night and the end-of-semester party. Now that he’s moved to Zurich and has more time on his hands, he’s throwing himself into AMIV with everything he’s got—and, of course, he’s become a Kulturi right away. When his time with AMIV eventually comes to an end and he needs to fill his time with something else, Miguel is drawn—whether on two wheels or two skis—to the mountains, where he can recover from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

External Relations

Tobias Eyer

Tobias has long been an old hand at amiv. He’s been actively involved since his third semester, has chaired the general assembly several times, organized events like the Rideout, and treated us to delicious cocktails. In his opinion, beer is clearly overrepresented at amiv, and he’s been valiantly fighting against that for years. Now, in the final year of his master’s degree in mechanical engineering, he has surprised amiv once again: Anyone who knows him knows that he has skillfully avoided a position on the board for years. He certainly knew how to keep his schedule full: He was a leader in Jubla and was involved with Swissloop Tunneling for four years. In the end, however, he’d like to give something back to amiv for all the wonderful years. And what better way to do that than to use his charm to be the face of amiv to our corporate contacts? His sometimes slightly extravagant sense of style and his (perhaps slightly excessive) Valais pride shouldn’t hurt in that regard. His stated goal is to build a stable, long-term external relations infrastructure and thus leave his mark on amiv well beyond his term in office. And who knows—maybe at the next company event there’ll even be cocktails instead of beer?

Tasks

The members of the External Relations Department establish new contacts with the business community and maintain existing ones. Their main task is to raise sponsorship funds and exchange information between industry and students - to create added value for the students. Together with the President, the board members of this department are the face of the AMIV to the outside world. They also organize the big AMIV company contact fair "AMIV Kontakt" every autumn semester. In order to be able to offer interesting excursions during the semester as well, they have to rely on external help. Would you like to support the ER team in the area of excursions, contact or sponsoring? Then get in touch at er@amiv.ethz.ch.

Eric Hong

Raised in Düsseldorf, Eric moved to Zurich after graduating from high school, where he has since been navigating the joys and trials of studying electrical engineering at ETH.

He was “indoctrinated” by AMIV as early as his first week of college during Freshman Weekend. There, he not only got to know the club and its beer, but also his predecessor, Andrin Schälin, who was his group leader at the time.

During his first year of studies, Eric’s involvement in club life was mainly limited to attending as many AMIV events as possible. Now that he has successfully completed his foundation year, it’s time for a greater commitment: the ER Board.

For obvious reasons, Eric chose this department. Together with Tobias and the ER team, he works to showcase the more professional side of AMIV.

Outside of AMIV, you’ll find Eric running, swimming, or at the ASVZ. At ETH, he’s usually at the GLC or ETZ during the semester, while during exam periods he prefers to hole up on the lower floors of the ML.

University Policy D-ITET

Max Weber

Maybe you’ve seen Max at some point on campus, towering out over the crowd. However, his record at ETH is even more outstanding than his 193cm build. Before making the right decision of coming to AMIV, he used to be active in EESTEC and write for Blitz, all while also teaching as a TA, something he still continues to do. How he finds the time for everything is a mystery not even Max himself knows the answer to. With that being said, Max is always fun to be around, working hard to spread good mood and happiness day to day. We at AMIV have no doubt, that he is capable to truly represent our electrical engineers’ interest in the confusing and sometimes boring world of HoPo. Outside his role at AMIV, Max’ passion project is to become king of his self-founded country, of which the AMIV board will be the first citizens. If he’s not plotting his uprise, Max likes to relax at an altitude of 1601m AMSL, paragliding away into the distance. Wherever he’s headed to, you can be sure he has a plan. At the very least some semblance of one...

Tasks

At ETH, students have a lot of say - perhaps more than you think. The HoPo board members, together with the HoPo-Team, are involved in the departmental, teaching and grade conferences and represent the viewpoint of the students. In addition, they are the contact persons for all possible study-related questions, organize exam preparation courses and conduct lecture evaluations with the help of semester representatives. Do you have any questions or suggestions? Contact us at hopo-itet@amiv.ethz.ch.

Anaïs Häuptli

Anaïs clearly spends too much time at the Byro for a HoPo member. It’s become a tradition that, every time she’s there, she’s asked at least once, “What is HoPo MAVT doing at the Byro?” She’s from Olten, where she still lives today, and likes to remind everyone that it’s pronounced “Oute” and not “Olte.” Just as regularly, she has to defend the fact that one can live there without any major problems and that Olten is more than just a train station. The case is still being made. Anaïs is in her third semester studying mechanical engineering, but she began her HoPo career back in her first semester as a semester representative. She quickly realized that she wanted to make an even bigger impact. Her main goal as the HoPo board member: fair academic conditions for everyone.

But the question remains: What does Anaïs do at the Byro? When she’s not busy with her HoPo duties, she’s always up for a drinking game, preferably Rage Cage. Why she’s there so unusually often, however, remains a mystery even to her. It’s practical, though: Anyone with a concern about their studies doesn’t have to write an email but can just bring it up to her directly between rounds. Outside the Byro, you’ll find her at the gym several times a week. For her, though, the best cardio is dancing the night away at a rave. And as soon as she has several days off in a row, she’s off either hiking or skiing in the Alps or traveling somewhere abroad. She always comes back though, first to Oute, then to the Byro.

Infrastructure

Anastasia Kulabukhova

Anastasia “Anaaa” is originally from Zurich, where she grew up and has been involved in competitive shooting since she was a child. After high school, she first studied economics at UZH and then transferred to ETH. Outside of her studies, she’s almost always out and about with friends and feels like she attends a bit too many events. On quieter days, however, she much prefers to read a good book. For her term in office, she has firmly resolved to: She will go to great lengths to keep Frisbee up and running and as operational as possible.

Tasks

The Infrastructure board member is responsible for all premises of the AMIV and the facilities belonging to the association contained therein and their condition. The design and allocation in the cultural area, rules for the lounge and the supply of drinks take up most of his time. He is always pleased to see how AMIV members separate the garbage and make an effort to keep the rooms tidy and clean. He always has an open ear for all requests, incentives and ideas and is looking forward to an email from you to infra@amiv.ethz.ch.

Information

Moreno Ramirez

Moreno is our beloved information guy, and boy does he like to spread them. You may be wondering, how does someone get into info? Well, our beloved half-argentinian, somewhat italian but at heart swiss, friend says he is here to get some sick merch up and running, give us the best infos, but mostly shits n giggles. He loves cats, Mate and being the one to serve you the drinks, so if you see him behind the bar you know you are in good company. You might even spot him sometimes with the traditional version of mate! Also he says he likes Ikkimel, but idk who that is. His Motto: Always say yes to sidesquests. So if you up to something fun, give him a ring!

Tasks

The head of communications coordinates various information channels such as the Announce, Instagram and the good old website, and ensures that all students stay well informed about the events in and around their favorite association. Last but not least, dutifully answering everything that remains at the end of the day in the info@amiv.ethz.ch mailbox is part of it.
